PODOMS
Prevention of dropped object management system
The identification and mitigation of hazards posed by dropped objects is one of the key remaining safety issues within the oil industry
As leaders in the development of safety management systems for the oil industry, Pisys have developed a full-featured, robust and easy to use system which is currently in use on assets across the UKCS
PODOMS helps to prevent dropped objects anywhere a risk exists
PODOMS tracks inspections, stores photos and documentation and raises and manages actions relating to potential hazards
PODOMS increases the visibility of risks by centralizing data in an easy to understand format
Location maps specific to your asset allow a quick overview of high risk areas
PODOMS presents large volumes of data in an easily understood format – it helps to ensure that hazards are identified and managed quickly and safely
The system is web based – hosted at our secure data centre or at your own site

Scottish software company Pisys is helping companies operating in the global oil and gas industry reduce the risk of workplace injuries and improve their performance with a new web-based software solution.
Dropped objects at onshore and offshore facilities can result in lost time incidents, injuries and, in extreme cases, fatalities.
The Prevention of Dropped Objects Management System (PODOMS) was designed specifically to cut the risk of this type of incident by streamlining equipment storage and inspection practices via an easy to use online application.
Offshore oil and gas operator Talisman Energy (UK) Limited approached Aberdeen-based Pisys looking for a software package to help support their Stop Drop initiative which aims to help prevent dropped objects at all Talisman operated sites.
PODOMS records the results from regular inspections of secured tools and equipment as well as any ad hoc observations before producing a portfolio of items for further inspection within a managed area of a site. The portfolio includes images and location maps highlighting rope access areas.
The software produces an action list for corrective measures resulting from the inspection or other observations. These actions can then be tracked and closed out within a set time period.
Talisman is currently deploying PODOMS from its servers to over a dozen assets in the North Sea.
Pisys Managing Director Peter Henderson said, “This software is a new offering for the oil and gas industry designed to take the strain out of managing dropped objects on sites of any size where the heath and safety of workers is paramount.
“Pisys has nearly 20 years' experience in providing bespoke products to the international oil and gas industry. Much of our expertise has been honed developing solutions for operators in the North Sea and we pride ourselves in listening to our customers and developing innovative solutions to their business health and safety needs.”
